How counselling can help?
The pace of modern-day life is fast. There can often be a self-inflicted expectation to effortlessly juggle 100 different things at once. Whilst doing this, we often do not treat ourselves with the same kindness, compassion and understanding as we treat others.
This can affect how we feel and how we function, leading to feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, low self-worth and can also have an impact on our relationships.
That is why counselling is so precious. It gives you time for you, to explore what you are feeling, why you are feeling it and to ultimately understand your needs in order to move to a more fulfilled and happier way of being.
Not only can counselling help with easing the feelings being experienced in the present, it can also offer insight and understanding as to where these feelings originated. Sometimes we continue to adopt outdated coping mechanisms that may have once been useful but hinder us in the present. Therapy offers insight into where these strategies originated and assists in the self-empowerment to break away from inhibiting patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour, that no longer serve our purpose.

How I work
I offer face-to-face and online counselling for adults aged 18 or over, where we meet for 50 minutes, usually on a weekly basis.
The counselling can be short term, where we define a set amount of sessions in order to explore a particular issue, or on an ongoing basis where we work to an end when it feels appropriate to do so.
Counselling is a collaborative process and my aim is to work with you so that you get the most out of our time together.
Couple & Relationship Counselling
Sometimes life events and transitions put a strain on our relationships. It is at these times our individual coping mechanisms and responses to the situation we are facing can not only be detrimental to the relationship but can cause the relationship to falter and for communication to breakdown.
The counselling I offer is where your relationship is at the heart of the work we do. It is not about blame but about giving space to explore the issues being encountered, with the aim to create a natural and healthy resolution through a better understanding of each other’s emotional responses.
How I work – Couples:
I understand that finding time can be difficult when co-ordinating multiple diaries, so I offer flexibility on duration and frequency of when we meet. Session duration can be 50 minutes or 90 minutes in length and we will discuss frequency prior to working together.
