How I got here

Fifteen years ago, I wasn’t happy but was doing my best to pretend I was. It was a Sunday and I read an article on Mental Health and the toll our lifestyles can take on our mental wellbeing. A lot of what it said resonated with me on many different levels and triggered an ongoing interest in what people are really experiencing underneath their outward facing facade. The more I talked to people, the more I realised that we all have our own individual struggles and insecurities. We are adept at boxing our problems away until there is a realisation that they are inhibiting us from living the life we want, or a significant life event takes us to a place where we simply can no longer cope.

I decided to embark on my own therapeutic journey that ultimately led me to train as a counsellor.

Qualifications

I am a qualified humanistic integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. What this means is that I have trained in a variety of theories. I do not believe in a one cap fits all approach to therapy and by having a range of theoretical understanding, I can tailor my approach to an individual client.

  • Masters: Advanced Clinical Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy.

  • Advanced Diploma: Humanistic Integrative Counselling.

  • Certificate: Couples & Relationship Theory.

  • Foundation Course for Infertility Counselling.

  • BA (Hons) Psychology & Education.

Membership

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)* and I am committed to supervision and on-going training.

*BACP Accreditation recognises a therapist’s experience and the quality of their practice. To be accredited, a therapist needs at least 3 years working experience and has to have passed an in-depth assessment.
